Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Team Blog Hop

Stampin’ Up! One Horse Open Sleigh for Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Team Blog Hop.

Welcome! It that time, the 2nd Tuesday of the month  you have been waiting for with excitement, a fun team blog hop from Amy’s Inkin’ Krew.   The theme for this month is “Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays”. You are in for a treat seeing all the talent these ladies present to you. Sit back with your favorite beverage and enjoy.  You will see cards that will  inspire you to get creative as you jump from blog to blog.

The card I am sharing today is a Slider card, I think that is what it is called.  Most I have seen are done portrait but as the horse and sleigh are too long for a portrait card, I did mine landscape.  Before I had followed Dawn Griffith’s cuts and scores but with this being landscape, I had to figure out the measurements. Then I thought maybe there is someone on YouTube who has done this card landscape, after searching for a long time, I found one by Maria Vargas. You ‘ve realized by now that I am using Stampin’ Up! Horse & Sleigh stamp set and Dies, plus One Horse Open Sleigh Designer Series Paper.  The greeting is from Stampin’ Up! Saint Nicholas stamp set, stamped in Pebble Path ink.  The sentiment is from Stampin’ Up! Perched In A Tree and is also stamped in Pebble Path ink.

The card base is two pieces of Boho Blue card stock cut 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″. One is for the card front the other for the card back.  Cut a piece of Designer Series Paper 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″.  You will want to adhere the Designer Series Paper to the card front before cutting.  Use lots of adhesives because you will be cutting through two layers and you want the edges to be adhered once you cut.

Come over to 1-3/8″ from left edge of card and 3/4″ from top edge. Score from 3/4″ to 3-1/4″. Score the flap at 1-1/4″ and fold into a mountain fold.  This is where you will adhere the horse and sleigh  On both sides of the score line come over to 1-3/8″ and cut from the 3/4″ score line down to the 3-1/4″ score line .  Remember you are cutting through two layers, Designer Series Paper and card stock.  Once you have cut the two slits, go to the bottom of the slits and cut across from one slit to the other.

Cut a piece of Basic White card stock is 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″.  This is your flap.  Stamp sentiment and art work if you want art work on this piece before you adhere to the card.  It would be good here if you watched Dawn Griffith’s video to see exactly how to adhere the slider. Slide over to the 8.31 minutes that is where she shows how to adhere the mechanism. She can explain the slider mechanism very well and how to adhere.  You will also need to cut a piece of Basic White card stock 3-1/2″ x 4″ for the mechanism.

This is a side view of the card.  After adhering the mechanism, you will need to adhere the back of the card.  This covers the mechanism.    You can see in the photo above that you need to punch a half circle for a finger hold on the card.  Dawn’s covers this also.

A Basic White envelope gets a piece of the Designer Series Paper a different pattern for the envelope flap.  Cut the piece for the envelope 2-1/4″ x 6″, adhere using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
