Stampin’ Up! Santa’s Delivery Christmas Card

Stampin’ Up! Santa’s Delivery Christmas Card

My card I am sharing today is a side step card and is created using Stampin’ Up! Santa’s Delivery stamp set and the Santa Train Dies, along with the Santa Express Designer Series Paper (DSP).

Since Addicted to Stamps and More has the theme of Any Occasion, I am entering, as my card is an occasion that comes in December each year.

I am entering the As You See It Challenge.  Their theme is Christmas in July and give your favorite reason. My favorite Christmas in July is making Christmas cards to get ahead of the game since I am so slow.  I love making cards for children, especially fun fold ones, they are always astonished at the cards.

My card base is from a package of Side Step card bases I have had since I became a Stampin’ Up! customer.  I remember those days, I could not cut the card correctly so I purchased a package to make it easier, well you know how that goes, I put them in the cabinet forgot them and in unpacking a box of SU products that has been in storage for the past two years, I found them and thought why not use.  I’ve made side step cards before, but not using these already cut ones, so guess what I found out to my horror when I went to put the pieces together, the pieces I had cut were smaller than the card base so I had to measure and cut again.  In making my regular side step cards, I pull out my diagram and cut. Lesson learned, measure a bought card base before you cut.

I will give measurements for a regular side step at the end of my post.

This is how the card looks when it is opened up more.  As you can see my card base is white.  I have used Real Red and Shaded Spruce card stock as the mats.  I fussy cut the Santa and train car from a panel of Santa Express Designer Series Paper.  I thought I would try the Designer Series Paper before I used the stamps to stamp and color Santa and the train card.  I did stamp and color the tree on the train card and the penguins from the Stampin’ Up! Santa Delivery stamp set.  I colored the tree using Shaded Spruce, Granny Apple Green, and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends Markers.  The train track is cropped from a piece of Soft Suede card stock and adhered under the train wheels with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

I used a panel of Santa Express Designer Series Paper to create a background.  I colored the penguins using a Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends Marker.  The penguins are popped around the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals to give them a bit of dimension.  I cropped trees from  Shaded Spruce and Granny Apple Green card stock using the Tree Lot Dies.  A greeting from the stamp set is stamped in Tuxedo Memento Black ink on a scrap of Basic White card stock and fussy cut.

A medium Basic White envelope gets a panel of Santa Express Designer Series Paper applied to envelope flap using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  This is one of the envelopes that come with the side step kit.

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you took the time to linger and look at my other blog post and cards and that you will join me on my stamping journey as I share my cards with you each day. My hope and wish are that you will be inspired to create amazing creations yourself. Feel free to CAS(E) any card. Any questions you may have, you know you can always contact me. Have a blessed day!

Card cuts are at the end of this post.

  1. What a great fun fold Shirley – such a great way to showcase the Santa train, with a whole festive scene built around it. Anyone, child or grown up, would be impressed to receive this! I love the coordinating envelope too (it’s the little things!) Thanks for sharing with us at As You See It this week!

    1. Thank you, so much, Joanne for stopping by with your encouraging comment. I appreciate it so much.

  2. This is so very cute! ANYone would be amazed by this card…child OR adult! Such a fun fold too! Thanks for playing with our Christmas in July challenge at As You See It this week!

  3. What a great choice of fold to show off the train set with scenery! What child (of any age) could resist such a honey of a card? Thanks for joining in with us again at As You See It.

  4. What a great fold with which to display this fun suite, Shirley! I’m sure a lucky grandchild will be enchanted with it! I’m sorry that you had to recut all your panels for the different sized base. Maybe you can reuse them by cutting a base their size. Your colouring of the penguins is a good match to the DSP figures! Thanks for filling in the blank with us at As You See It Challenges!

  5. This is so fun, Shirley – I’ve just gotten this suite, but not played with it yet! Thanks for the great inspo! And what a great fold, too – love this! Thanks so much for playing at As You See It!
