Balloons–I Just Love You

Balloons–I Just Love You

I decided to combine the retired with the new and use stamps that I like from the retired ones I have.  I always like the Balloon Adventure Stamp Set, so decided I would make an encouragement card with it, while at the same time using some of the great products in the Occasions catalog for 2018.

My design is inspired by Just US Girls.

I started with a base of Night of Navy cardstock cut 4-1/4 x 11.  Scoring the piece at 5-1/2.  I cut a mat 4 x5-1/4 from a piece of the Sweet Soiree DSP. I adhered this to the Night of Navy card base with liquid glue.

I used the Balloon Adventure die to cut the art piece.  I used the two balloons.  I used liquid glue to adhere all these to the base balloons on the art piece. I also used liquid glue to adhere the art piece to the mat cut from the Sweet Soiree DSP.  In thinking back, I would probably have popped the art piece on the mat instead of using the glue.

I sentiment on the banner is from the Petal Palette Stamp Set.

I stamped my inside sentiment on a piece of Whisper White cardstock cut at 4 x 5-1/4. I stamped a balloon in Pool Party as an accent.

I adhered the sentiment piece with liquid glue to the Night of Navy card base.  It really was a simple and easy card.

Thinking of You with A Lavender Basket

Thinking of You with A Lavender Basket

I was so pleased when I learned how to do this basket.  I had tried for days to figure out how to get the lavender into the basket.  Sometimes I would just lay the art piece down after being frustrated that I could not figure it out.  A few days ago, an email popped up from Pinterest ( we all love Pinterest right) or those of us who use it do.  I think everyone should have a Pinterest account.  In this email were a picture and a link to a video.  After watching the video, I thought, I should have given this to my husband he would have had it done in seconds. He is one of those gifted people that can look at a problem and instantly come up with the solution. Over the years, it can become annoying at times.

So, here is my take on the beautiful card that the solution comes from. Only the basket is the same.  The card layout is my own.  I made about 6 cards before I finally achieved the color scheme I wanted.

My design was inspired by The Paper Players Challenge for this week “Dream of Spring”.

I started with a card base using the Blushing Bride cardstock. It is cut 4-1/4 x 11. I scored it at 5-1/2.

I then cut a 4 x 4 square from the Springtime Foils DSP. (You can get this free until March 31, with a $50 purchase of Stampin Up products from either the Annual or Occasions Catalog)

Next, I cut a banner using a banner die and embossed it using the basket weave embossing folder from the Blooming Basket Bundle. (This too is free with a $100 purchase until March 31)

I stamped the art piece using the basket stamp from the Blooming Basket Bundle.  As I wanted to put lavender in the basket instead of roses, I like being different, and so happy that Emma Goddard of Coastal Crafters decided she wanted to be different also, when she did the video.

You can see from the picture of the basket, where to cut so you can stick the lavender in the basket.  When I first saw the picture of the basket of lavender, I thought she had used a masking technique and was so pleased it was more simple than the masking.  A picture of where I cut is below.

I have marked in red on the picture of the basket where I cut.  Once you have the lavender placed where you want them and all of the roses are covered turn the piece over and tape the lavender stems that are sticking through.  This will prevent them from moving and being dislodged.  You can cut off the extra stems that are probably below the square you stamped the basket on.

I popped the basket of lavender onto the banner piece and added a bow from linen thread.  I added two butterflies from the Blooming Basket Bundle. The decorative accent at the top of the card is a die from the stamp set Petal Palette.

The inside sentiment is from the stamp set Blessings from Heaven.  The lavender accent, I used is from the stamp set Lots of Lavender.

The products I used for this card are listed below.

Spring Rose

Spring Rose

I saw a single rose today, that was peaking through the vines in the yard.  It is a bit early for roses, but guess this rose does not know that, with all the crazy weather we have had the past few months.  Some of our flowering trees were blooming in January.  My card today is in honor of that single rose.

My card is a bit larger than the usual cards I make.  This one is 6” x 4”.  I used Basic Black cardstock as the base.  My layout is from Freshly Made Sketches 326.

I cut a mat from Whisper White cardstock 5-3/4 x 4-5/8.

I cut the colored mat piece 5-1/4 x 4. I colored the leaves on the piece with Old Olive Stampin Write Markers.  I let this dry and then took the Memento Black Ink pad and rubbed it all over the piece.  My Olive Green turned black also.  I liked the look of it.

I cut a rose from the Petal Passion DSP and colored it with my Real Red and Olive Green Stampin Write Markers.

I  cut the tag the Dear Friend sentiment is stamped on using one of my tag dies.  I stamped the Dear Friend sentiment using the Birthday Blooms stamp set.   I attached it to the rose using the Silver Metallic Thread.  I wound some gold braid around the card 3 times.  After using Stampin Dimensionals to attach to the Whisper White mat,  I think one gold braid would have been sufficient.

The inside sentiment is also from the Birthday Blooms as is the flower.  I colored the flower using Real Red and Olive Green Stampin Write Markers.  I attached this to the card base using Liquid Glue.

There! You have my first rose of Spring.  We always hear of the last rose of Summer, not the first rose of Spring when roses are not suppose to be blooming.

Look what my hubby brought inside to me, beautiful aren’t they?

Bluebells of Spring

Bluebells of Spring

Today’s card is a beautiful card that makes me think of the Bluebells blooming in the Spring when I was a child.  I made it for a friend as an encouragement.  I used the Springtime Foils DSP.  I love this cardstock.  It can be used in so many ways.  I chose to color my flower using Night of Navy Stampin Pad and my Blender pen.

One of the layout used for this card is from the

and the other one is from our group’s monthly challenge  – Flowers– Anything with flowers or a bunch of flowers. Click on picture and you will see details of where I found this beautiful picture of a flower.

I started with a card base using a Retired color, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay would work just as well in place of the Coastal Cabana.  I then cut a piece of Whisper White for the first mat. The second mat is cut from a piece of Night of Navy. I embossed using a polka dot embossing folder.

I used my Oval Scalloped dies to cut a piece from the Springtime Foils DSP (FREE with a $50 purchase through March 31)  I colored the flowers using Night of Navy Stampin Pad and my Blender Pen.

I tied a bow around the Night of Navy mat and art piece after popping the art piece on the Night of Navy Cardstock using Stampin Dimensionals.  I popped this on the Whisper White mat that had been adhered to the Coastal Cabana card base.

Potential Backorders on Select Stampin’ Blends

Since the introduction of Stampin’ Blends in October 2017, our forecasting and planning department has been closely monitoring our Stampin’ Blends inventory and customers’ buying patterns. Over the last couple of months, we’ve seen a dramatic increase in the sales of Stampin’ Blends, which is wonderful—you and your customers are buying them, using them, and loving them!

Unfortunately, the quick increase in sales, along with a long lead time from our supplier in China, and the temporary shutdown of all factories in China for the government-mandated Chinese New Year holiday, has created a perfect storm for backorders. In the next coming weeks, we anticipate that approximately 14 of our current 27-color Stampin’ Blends collection will go on backorder:

  • Bermuda Bay (Light and Dark)
  • Bronze
  • Calypso Coral (Dark)
  • Crumb Cake (Light and Dark)
  • Ivory
  • Pink Pirouette (Light and Dark)
  • Pool Party (Light and Dark – currently on backorder)
  • Pumpkin Pie (Dark)
  • Smoky Slate (Light and Dark)

Because of Chinese New Year, we don’t yet have a firm date of when more of these colors will be available, but we anticipate it won’t be until the end of April.

Letting you know of this potential backorder situation could result in our current inventory being depleted even more quickly; however, we wanted to give our customers the opportunity to purchase your favorite Stampin’ Blends colors before they go on backorder.

Buying the entire set of Stampin Blends during Sale-A-Bration would qualify you for 2 FREE products from the Sale-A-Bration catalog.
