Stampin’ Up! Let It Ride with Waterfront

Stampin’ Up! Let It Ride with Waterfront

The card I am sharing today, makes me think of Cumberland Island and the horses there. Since it is the weekend going to Cumberland would be a nice trip, but then you have to have a reservation for that expedition to Cumberland Island. If you have never visited Cumberland Island it is a great day trip, tho’ some people camp there.  My son stayed a week when he was in college, but day trips are enough for me even for the beauty of Cumberland.  The three horses in the photo look as if they are posing for the camera.  They may be you can walk pretty close to the horses with no problem.

My card is created using the Stampin’ Up! Let It Ride Stamp Set and the Stampin’ Up! Waterfront Stamp Set.

I watched two, three maybe more videos trying to get the mountains to look like mountains, but finally settled on these. They are created by using one of the stamps from the Stampin’ Up! Waterfront Stamp Set and Stampin’ Up! Garden Green ink.  I stamped the trees first using a stamp from the Stampin’ Up! Let It Ride Stamp Set and one from the Waterfront Stamp Set.  I then stamped the mountains.

My challenges for today are inspired by two challenges — As You See It Challenge and Cardz 4 Galz Challenge

Using  Stampin’ Up! Bermuda Bay and Early Espresso Watercolor Pencils I colored in the water and the sand. I used a Stampin’ Up! Blender Pen to smooth out the watercolors. All the card layers even the art panel are embossed using the Stampin’ Up! Subtle Embossing Folder.

The sun is stamped in Stampin’ Up! Crushed Curry ink using the sun stamp from the Waterfront Stamp Set.  The birds are from Stampin’ Up! High Tide Stamp Set and are stamped using Tuxedo Memento Black ink.

My horse is stamped using Stampin’ Up! Early Espresso ink and the horse stamp from the Let It Ride Stamp Set, as this stamp has two horses on it, I had to mask one horse so that it would not show.  I wrapped a length of Stampin’ Up! Linen Thread around the art panel and the Stampin’ Up! Shaded Spruce panel used for the mat. Wishing now I had not or put the thread lower below the horse.  The greeting from Stampin’ Up! Colorful Seasons is stamped in Shaded Spruce ink on a scrap of Whisper White card stock and one end is snipped into a flag.

The inside sentiment panel is left blank for a note.

In finishing my card creation, I decorated the flap of a Whisper White envelope so it would coordinate with the theme of the card front by stamping the trees from the Let It Ride Stamp Set in Garden Green ink.

Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you have a wonderful fun weekend at whatever you chose to do.  My hope also is that you find encouragement or inspiration from my card.  Maybe it will inspire you to go check out Cumberland Island.  Do a search in Google for Cumberland Island Georgia.  Have a great day!

    1. Thank you so much, Sue, for taking your time to leave me such a sweet encouraging comment.

  1. Such a pretty card – your mountains are spot on – and it really does make you think of the horses on the beach! Great job! 🙂

  2. Shirley, that’s an interesting concept for the beach theme, but what a great idea! I remember reading and loving the book Misty of Chincoteaque and your card and Cumberland Island remind me of that story. I love the scene you’ve created here and the way you’ve combined stamp sets to do it! Thanks for sharing it with us at As You See It Challenges.

  3. What a lovely combination of the two stamp sets, Shirley. I’d not have thought of either of them for a beach challenge but you’ve made it work so well. That horse looks so at home on the beach. Thanks for joining us again at As You See It Challenge.

  4. Beautiful scene Shirley! The colors are perfect and I love the way that you combined the two stamp sets together. 🙂
