Stampin’ Up! Happy Thoughts

Stampin’ Up! Happy Thoughts

Good morning, I hope everyone’s week has gone great.  My week has been pretty busy, not even card-making time and you know how it is with a card addiction, but life happens and we deal with it.

Today’s card is for a dear, dear friend that lost her husband and then her daughter four days later.  She has been so grief-stricken that she doesn’t want people calling her and won’t answer her phone.  She is a lovely ole lady with flaming red hair still.

Today’s card features the Happy Thoughts Stamp Set.  I hope this set is around for a long, long time because it has such wonderful sentiments.  I also used the Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder and the 2021-2022 Designer Series Paper that was available when someone joined during Sale-A-Bration.  Being a demonstrator I had the opportunity for a short while to purchase this DSP.

Design inspiration comes from Try Stampin’ On Tuesday.

The card base is Basic White card stock with a panel of Basic Black card stock as the mat for the Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder used to emboss the Basic White panel.

I used dies from the Layering Ovals Dies to crop the two ovals for the greeting. One is from the new 2021-2022 DSP the other that the greeting is stamped on in Garden Green ink is from a panel of Basic White card stock.  A length of black ribbon is wrapped between the Basic White card stock and the DSP and a bow is made to pop on.

Hearts are cropped using a die from the Stitched Be Mine Dies to create the shamrocks.  The hearts may be the negative portion of the hearts I have inside on the sentiment panel may be the negative portion, I guess it is according to you think of it.  The three scalloped strips from Basic White card stock at the bottom of the front panel are cut with an old, old and I mean old pair of scissors.  There are more modern ones today.  Three Rhinestone Basic Jewels are popped around the card front.

A sentiment from the Happy Thoughts Stamp Set is stamped in Garden Green ink on a panel of Basic White card stock.  The hearts are the ones left when I cropped the panel of DSP to get the hearts to create shamrocks.

A medium Basic White envelope gets a panel of the 2021-2022 DSP applied to the envelope flap.

If you would like to create this card all the products used and the card cuts are at the end of this post.

  1. So rich with texture, Shirley! Beautiful colors for such a meaningful card. Thank you for playing along with us at Try Stampin’ on Tuesday #495.

  2. Shirley, this is a great card. How sad for your friend. I thought it was bad losing my husband two years ago and my son this year but her grief has to be tremendous. I know she has to deal with it in her own way but this card should help to bring some light into her life.

  3. Shirley, what a great St. Patrick Day card!!! Wonderful use of the Hammered Metal EF, too. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us at Try Stampin’ on Tuesday!!! -Donna

  4. So fun, Shirley, and perfect for St Pats! I was just putting out all my green this morning – good timing, lol. Love the textures you’ve added, too! Thanks so much for playing at TSOT!
