Stampin’ Up! Fun In The Sun Paper Pumpkin

Stampin’ Up! Fun In The Sun Paper Pumpkin

The card I am sharing today is an easel card created using elements from the July 2023 Fun In The Sun Paper Pumpkin.  The card bases in the kit this month are all step cards, so I saw Vy Tran’s card on the Paper Pumpkin Fan Club site and decided to make it.  You can see her card by clicking on her name.

I am entering the As You See It Challenge.  Their theme for this challenge is The thing that I love most about Summer is…  The thing I love most about summer is the cool ocean breezes sitting on the beach or the veranda watching all the activity going on in the water and on the beach.  You can use your imagination as to what families and friends are saying .  You could write an entire book with that imagination while sipping a frosty cool glass of lemonade, CFA preferred, no one makes it like they do.

The card base is Daffodil Delight card stock, cut 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 2-3/4″ and 5-1/2″.  The 2-3/4″ is your easel. This is where you attached the ocean scene.   You have adhered two pieces of Basic White card stock using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  One is adhered to the easel portion and the other at the top with a greeting stamped in Azure Afternoon ink. When you are adhering the two Basic White pieces be sure not to adhere on the score line as this would prevent the card from folding correctly.

Stamp a greeting using one of the labels in the kit and adhered at the bottom of the inside panel below the sail boat.  See photo. Pop some of the bling from the kit on the card front.

This is a side view of the card and you can see how the two Basic White pieces are adhered to the card front.  Using an envelope from the kit cut 1/8″ off each side of the envelope so you can open flat.   Cut a piece of the blue inside of the envelope 3-1/2″ x 4″.  Score the piece on the long side at 1″, 1-3/4″, 2-3/4″ and 3-1/2″.  Fold and burnish each score line.  All folds are in the same direction.  This piece makes the box you see in the photo for the easel stop.  Put Multipurpose Liquid Glue on the most narrow score and adhere to the other side to form the box. Vy shows it real well in her video.

Adhere the sail boat piece to the blue box using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  I stamped the seashells from Stampin’ Up! Seaside Bay stamp set in Crumb Cake ink on a 3″ x 3-3/4″ piece of Basic White card stock.   You can stamp the star fish from the Fun In The Sun Kit if you do not have the Stampin’ Up! Seaside Bay stamp set. Adhere the panel to the inside as shown in the photo above.

I used one of the envelopes from the Fun In The Sun Paper Pumpkin Kit.

  1. This was a great alternative for the Paper Pumpkin set, Shirley! I love that easel fold for giving lots of depth to a scene! As I swelter here in my condo, I am longing for ocean breezes and lemonade right now! Thanks for filling in our blank at As You See It Challenges!

  2. Beautiful, Shirley – I love to make alternatives with my kit! It was sure a fun one this month, and perfect for our challenge – you chose my favorite scene elements! Thanks so much for playing at As You See It!

  3. What a lovely scene – the steps in the easel create such a sense of depth… I can almost taste the lemonade and feel the breeze! Thanks for joining in with us at As You See It again, Shirley.
