Stampin’ Up! Buffalo Checks
Welcome, here it is Wednesday and the week-end is on the way. As red is one of my favorite colors, the other being purple, I will love doing this As You See It Challenge.
This was a fast and easy card, but pretty from my point of view. I guess you could say that is in the eye of the beholder.
The Buffalo Check Stamp Pad was used in making this card. The Stamparatus was used so that it could be stamped as many times as necessary to get the depth of color desired. The stamp was inked with Memento Black in and stamped on a 5-1/4″ x 4″ panel of Cherry Cobbler.
The log panel at the top is from the Wood Texture DSP. It was fussy cut and adhered with Liquid Glue. The antlers were cut from the Night Owl Thinlits Dies also using a panel of Wood Texture DSP. It is a tree limb, but turned the right direction it can look like antlers. A length of Linen Thread was wrapped around the Buffalo Check panel twice and tied in a knot.
The greeting is cut using a scalloped oval die and stamped with a branches stamp from the Christmas Pines stamp set. The “happy birthday is a stamp from an old Paper Pumpkin that I cut in two pieces so it would fit this label. It is popped over the antlers with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The inside sentiment is stamped using Cherry Cobbler ink on a panel of Whisper White and matted on a Cherry Cobbler panel.
As always my hope for you is that you found encouragement or inspiration for your own creative endeavors whatever they maybe. Visit often. Have a great day!

This is an awesome card for someone with one arm in a sling! And red is one of my favourites around this time of year, too, especially with buffalo checks. I love the care you took fussy cutting your wood pile. Thanks for playing along with us at As You See It Challenge.
Thank you Heather for stopping by and for your sweet encouraging comment.
Thank you Heather for your sweet encouraging comment.
Just found your blog and I’m smitten with the very first card I see!!! The men in my family would LOVE this card. Thanks for the idea and I look forward to more inspiration and ideas.
Thank you Kathy for your kind remarks.
Very creative use of the Night Owl thinlits. Really like this masculine card. TFS.

Very clever to use that branch for antlers…they’re perfect, especially against the Buffalo Check background! Thanks for playing with our challenge this week!

That’s awesome Shirley! Love the colors and design! 🙂
Thanks Amy for your always encouraging comments. You are suppose to be enjoying OnStage not leaving comments on my site!!
You’ve done a great job with the buffalo check background and you’ve made interesting use of the wood textures DSP too. Since this is a speed challenge as well as a colour challenge, could you fill us in on how long it took you to complete? Thanks for joining us at As You See It.
Ooop! Did I miss doing something? Guess I need to read more carefully. It probably took me 20-30 minutes to make as my left arm is in a sling and it was a bit difficult to hold the paper to cut the top part. Promise to be more careful next time. Thanks you so much for taking the time to let me know I had omitted a step. It is truly appreciated. I will go read the challenge again and be more careful from now on. I think I saw the red and that was it.
Hi Shirley. Thanks for the reply you left on my blog – I wouldn’t have seen your reply if you hadn’t. Firstly, I’m really glad that were inspired by the challenge and loved it enough to want to enter single-armedly! It’s just that about twice a year we have a speed stamping challenge where you have to make a card in one shade of colour AND in under ten minutes. It’s fun to see what you can do when the clock is ticking! This challenge was one of those times, which is why I asked you about how long it took you. Normally, it wouldn’t matter a bit and I certainly hope you’ll keep playing with us. 🙂
