You

Today is my first blog hop, praying all goes well.  Well! here goes. Our theme is Spring.  Spring is such a lovely time with all the flowers, all the pollen that makes you sneeze and get allergies.  The bees buzzing around when you wish they would go away.

My card is for a giving, caring person.  This person does the little things that make you feel special.  I love having friends like that.   Leaving a diet Arnold Palmer on my porch table, then calling to say go check your table.

I decided to use the Birthday Blooms set for the umpteenth time today. I love this stamp set.  It is so simple to make cards using it.  I started with a base of Soft Sky cardstock, cut at 4-1/4 x 5-1/2. I scored it at 5-1/2.

I cut a mat 4 x 5-1/4 from a piece of the Springfoils DSP.  This DSP is free with a $50 purchase until March 31.  I colored the DSP using my Stampin Write Markers, Pear Pizzazz and Soft Sky.  I adhered this to the base using liquid glue.

I cut two ovals, one using Blushing Bride cardstocks and the other using Whisper White cardstock.  The Whisper White oval is used for the art piece.

I stamped the art piece using the Birthday Blooms set.  I stamped the image in  Memento ink, letting the image dry well so the ink would not blend when I colored it with the Stampin Write Markers Soft Sky and Blushing Bride.  I popped this on the Blushing Bride pink mat using Stampin Dimensionals.  I then popped it onto Springtime Foils DSP.

I stamped YOU on a small scrap of paper, using the Amazing You Stamp Set, this too is free with a $50 purchase.  The inside sentiment is stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the One in A Million Stamp set.

Blessings, have a nice day.

Balloons–I Just Love You

Balloons–I Just Love You

I decided to combine the retired with the new and use stamps that I like from the retired ones I have.  I always like the Balloon Adventure Stamp Set, so decided I would make an encouragement card with it, while at the same time using some of the great products in the Occasions catalog for 2018.

My design is inspired by Just US Girls.

I started with a base of Night of Navy cardstock cut 4-1/4 x 11.  Scoring the piece at 5-1/2.  I cut a mat 4 x5-1/4 from a piece of the Sweet Soiree DSP. I adhered this to the Night of Navy card base with liquid glue.

I used the Balloon Adventure die to cut the art piece.  I used the two balloons.  I used liquid glue to adhere all these to the base balloons on the art piece. I also used liquid glue to adhere the art piece to the mat cut from the Sweet Soiree DSP.  In thinking back, I would probably have popped the art piece on the mat instead of using the glue.

I sentiment on the banner is from the Petal Palette Stamp Set.

I stamped my inside sentiment on a piece of Whisper White cardstock cut at 4 x 5-1/4. I stamped a balloon in Pool Party as an accent.

I adhered the sentiment piece with liquid glue to the Night of Navy card base.  It really was a simple and easy card.

Hope you enjoy!  Visit again.

Thinking of You with A Lavender Basket

Thinking of You with A Lavender Basket

I was so pleased when I learned how to do this basket.  I had tried for days to figure out how to get the lavender into the basket.  Sometimes I would just lay the art piece down after being frustrated that I could not figure it out.  A few days ago, an email popped up from Pinterest ( we all love Pinterest right) or those of us who use it do.  I think everyone should have a Pinterest account.  In this email were a picture and a link to a video.  After watching the video, I thought, I should have given this to my husband he would have had it done in seconds. He is one of those gifted people that can look at a problem and instantly come up with the solution. Over the years, it can become annoying at times.

So, here is my take on the beautiful card that the solution comes from. Only the basket is the same.  The card layout is my own.  I made about 6 cards before I finally achieved the color scheme I wanted.

My design was inspired by The Paper Players Challenge for this week “Dream of Spring”.

I started with a card base using the Blushing Bride cardstock. It is cut 4-1/4 x 11. I scored it at 5-1/2.

I then cut a 4 x 4 square from the Springtime Foils DSP. (You can get this free until March 31, with a $50 purchase of Stampin Up products from either the Annual or Occasions Catalog)

Next, I cut a banner using a banner die and embossed it using the basket weave embossing folder from the Blooming Basket Bundle. (This too is free with a $100 purchase until March 31)

I stamped the art piece using the basket stamp from the Blooming Basket Bundle.  As I wanted to put lavender in the basket instead of roses, I like being different, and so happy that Emma Goddard of Coastal Crafters decided she wanted to be different also, when she did the video.

You can see from the picture of the basket, where to cut so you can stick the lavender in the basket.  When I first saw the picture of the basket of lavender, I thought she had used a masking technique and was so pleased it was more simple than the masking.  A picture of where I cut is below.

I have marked in red on the picture of the basket where I cut.  Once you have the lavender placed where you want them and all of the roses are covered turn the piece over and tape the lavender stems that are sticking through.  This will prevent them from moving and being dislodged.  You can cut off the extra stems that are probably below the square you stamped the basket on.

I popped the basket of lavender onto the banner piece and added a bow from linen thread.  I added two butterflies from the Blooming Basket Bundle. The decorative accent at the top of the card is a die from the stamp set Petal Palette.

The inside sentiment is from the stamp set Blessings from Heaven.  The lavender accent, I used is from the stamp set Lots of Lavender.

The products I used for this card are listed below.
