Little Twinkle

Little Twinkle

!, My card today is created by using a soon to be a retired stamp set, Little Twinkle.  It was an easy card to make and would be great for a beginning stamper.

My sketch is from the Try Stamping on Tuesday.

Night of Navy card stock is used for the card base.  A panel of Whisper White card stock is used for the mat for the Twinkle, Twinkle DSP used for the focal panel.  Three circles are cut using the Layering Circle Dies, one a bit larger than the next to make a border for the first circle that is cut from a panel of the Twinkle, Twinkle DSP.  The Petal Pink circle has the greeting stamped in Night of Navy ink. A length of Whisper White ribbon is wrapped around the Night of Navy star panel before the circles are popped over it using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Several silver stars are scattered around the card front and they may not show up too well.

The inside sentiment is from the Ribbons of Courage stamp set (retiring June 3) and I wish it wasn’t.

My envelope flap got some of the Twinkle, Twinkle DSP that was used for the focal panel.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Hope you like the card.  Have a blessed day!

Pretty Kitty and Friends

Pretty Kitty and Friends

This is a tale of two, a Kitty and a Puppy.  They were playing and Kitty got into the knitting basket and became tangle up in the thread.  Puppy tried to help after Kitty pounched on him,  but all he could do was sit and look at her situation because the thread was tangled around him also. Kitty’s situation is much like life, we get ourselves all tangled up into something and have no idea how to get out of it.

Today’s card is from Stampin’ Up’s! Pretty Kitty and Bella and Friends stamp sets.  Inspiration and design comes from a combination of Fusion Stamps and Double “D” Challenges -Snuggle Up Buttercup.  Both seem similar enough to me that both challenges can be joined.

Both challenges have cable knit throws and red, so I chose to emboss at panel with the Cable Kit Embossing Folder and make a blanket for them to sit on out of a scrap from the Festive Farmhouse DSP.  I tore the DSP around the edges to give it a ragged blanket look.

Kitty was stamped then masked so Puppy could be stamped sitting beside her. They are then colored with watercolor pencils and popped on their blanket with Stampin Dimensionals.  An extra ball of yarn was stamped and colored with the Real Red watercolor pencils.  It was popped on the Mixed Real Red Satin Ribbon as is the “Life is Messy” greeting.Gold Metallic Thread is wound all through the art piece to give it the look of having thread tangled all over both Kitty and Puppy.

The inside sentiment is stamped on a panel of Whisper White using Memento Black Ink. It is adhered to the Real Red mat using Multipurpose Glue.

Thanks for stopping by today.  My wish as always is that you find inspiration and encouragement for your creative endeavors.

Play A New Song

Play A New Song

My theme for this card is from the Paper Player (PP387)

I thought this was going to be a hard Challenge and almost decided against doing it, but then I found this cute picture of a guitar with a butterfly on it.  Then I looked at the picture and thought this is going to be extremely hard to color, but I decided to challenge the coloring.  It took a while, but I finally accomplished it. It isn’t professional but turned out ok.

I started with a Melon Mambo card base.  I cut a mat from Whisper White and embossed it using a musical note embossing folder.  I popped this on the card base with Stampin Dimensionals.  I cut two narrow banners, one from a scrap of musical card stock and one from a piece that was left from the embossing. I find it better to emboss before you cut.  The paper seems to shrink a bit when it is embossed. I used glue dots to adhere these to the embossed mat.

I colored the guitar and butterfly using Melon Mambo, Lemon Lime Twist, Garden Green, Perfect Plum, Bermuda Bay and Daffodil Delight Stampin pads and a Blender Pen.  I mixed the Garden Green and the Lemon Lime Twist, making this a different color of green.  I popped this against the two banners.

I did not do an inside sentiment at this time as I do not know who the card will be going to.

That’s my card. Hope you like it. Come Again!

A New Day

A New Day

It is a new day!  We can say that each morning when we awake.  There’s a saying that goes something like this, but not the exact quote probably “ Make today the first day of the rest of your life”.  You can say that about any day!  So! Make today a good day, whatever you have to do and wherever you have to go.  Find joy in the task and in the destination.

Well on to my card.  I decided to make a cheery color springtime card.  It makes you think of the azaleas blooming and all the other flowering trees and bushes in the South.  Springtime is a beautiful time to visit here because of all the flowers.  My husband has a high school friend that owns a place called Gibbs Garden and it is a sight to behold with all the flowers, especially in the Spring when all the daffodils bloom.  In the Summer you can see butterflies galore.  Each season has its own unique flowers.

You would think I was giving a review for Gibbs Gardens instead of my card.  For my card today, I used the  FMS 330 for my design.  Crisis mode is the way I go it seems when it comes to getting challenges posted.  I get distracted by family and life.

I started with a card base of Melon Mambo and embossed it using a bubble embossing folder.  The banner across the front of the card is from a scrap from my scrap stash.  Can’t remember where I purchased.  It was a lovely green that goes with the Melon Mambo and my butterfly.  I embossed this scrap with the retired embossing folder polka dots from Stampin Up.

The butterfly is colored using Stampin Up Watercolor crayons and an Aqua Painter.  I used Old Olive, Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo and Purple.

I stamped two butterflies on the inside sentiment and colored them also with the Watercolor Crayons.  I did not put a sentiment, deciding to wait until I know who I am sending the card to before adding a sentiment.

Hope you enjoy!  Watch for a second post today.  Yes! there’s another Challenge I want to join.

You Are Best

You Are Best

Here it is Easter and Sale-A-Bration is a memory.  For those of you who were able to get lots of treasures (stamps), I am sure they are fond memories.

Today’s card design is taken from SIP Challenge #143

An extra easy card for you to make as it uses only one color of cardstock–Whisper White. Oh, I almost forgot the tiny square of lilac that I used from a scrap that I found somewhere in my stash of scraps.

I embossed a piece of Whisper White using the Basket Weaver TIEF.  Then I cut to the size, (4 x 3), I need to layer on the front of my card base.  I then used the small piece of lilac to layer over that.  I used circle layering thinlit dies to cut the circle the art piece is popped on.

I stamped the art piece using the Lots of Lavender stamp set, which was FREE during Sale-A-Bration.  I do not believe it will return in the new annual catalog that comes out June 1.  I colored the bunches of lavender using Stampin Up Watercolor Lilac and Old Olive pencils and an aqua painter.

The inside sentiment is from the Petal Palette stamp set. This stamp set is available until June 1.  I added a bunch of lavender below the sentiment and once again colored it with Stampin Up Watercolor pencils.

I wrapped a piece of white ribbon across the card to hide the division of the two papers.  I wrapped several strands of Linen Thread over the white ribbon.  I popped the circle with the art piece over the ribbon and thread.  I made a bow of the linen thread and glued it with a glue dot to the basket.

The two butterflies were stamped using the Blooming Basket stamp set.  These were fussy cut and a glue dot was used to adhere them to the art piece.

See short and simple that is my card for the day.  Hope you enjoy!
