Touches of Texture

Touches of Texture

I have a card to show you today using the stamp set Touches of Texture.  I liked this stamp set when I saw it in last year’s catalog, but kept putting off buying it.  I finally got it when it appeared in this year’s catalog.

I decided to play along with two challenges. The Paper Players and Inkspire_me Challenge

Love the colors and the layout of these challenges.  They go together so well.

I started with a card base of Highland Heather. 4-1/4 x 11 scored at 5-1/2. Using Versa Mark Ink, I stamped the front of the card base.

Whisper White mat cut 2-1/2 x 5-1/4. Stamped using one of the background stamps from the Touch of Textures Stamp Set and Highland Heather Stampin Write Marker.  After stamping wrapped a length of Granny Apple Green Textured Weave Ribbon around the edge, leaving half of it off the edge.  Adhered to the Highland Heather card base.

Cut the 2 ½ and the 3 ½ squares for the art piece using the Layering Square Framelits Dies.  I stamped the flowers from the Touches of Textures Stamp Set using Memento Black Ink. I colored the flowers using Lovely Lipstick, Granny Apple Green, and Highland Heather Stampin Write Markers.  I popped both squares on the matted front with Stampin Dimensionals.

I used one of the background stamps to also make a border around the inside sentiment panel.  The sentiment is from the Postcard Pals Stamp Set.

That’s all for today.  Hope you enjoy my card.

Love and Share What You Do

Love and Share What You Do

This is another take on the Love What You Do stamp set and the Share What You Love DSP.  I like using these two, there are so many combinations of cards you can make with all the beautiful DSP. No challenges today, just my own design. The color scheme is rose and wine colors, using the Rich Razzleberry and Sweet Sugar Plum colors.

The base is Rich Razzleberry. I then made the made using a panel of the Share What You Love DSP, cut at 2-1/2 by 5-1/4. I also cut a panel of Sweet Sugar Plum, now retired, and put it though the Big Shot using a now retired embossing folder.  I cut around the embossed piece to give it more dimension.  These two were taped together and then popped on the Rich Razzleberry base.

I used an oval stitched die to cut the oval for the art piece. I stamped the art piece using the Love What You Share Stamp Set. I stamped in Rich Razzleberry first and then Versa Mark and heat set using clear embossing powder.  I then colored the poppies using an Aqua Painter and Rich Razzleberry ink.  I find it great that you can turn a dark ink like Rich Razzleberry into a pink ink by keeping on adding the water to the ink until you get the shade you are wanting I added a little bling to it after finishing the coloring.

I used a piece of the Share What You Love DSP on the inside sentiment panel also.

That’s all I have for today.  Come Again. Have a blessed day.  Hoping you got inspiration and encouragement from what you have seen today.

Can It Be Your Birthday!

Can It Be Your Birthday!

Can’t believe the time has come for another Amy’s Inkin Krew Team Blog Hop, time flies when you are having fun, and we all know it is fun making cards.

I have to admit, I never liked Mint Macaron when we had it before and thought that I would never use it this time. I thought it would be one of those colors that you just let go by. To my surprise, I decided I love it after seeing Jo Hooper cards on The Crafty Crafter.  You can see that I have CASd one of her cards.  I found them lovely and it sure changed my mind about Mint Macaron.

Here’s the card.   Don’t ask me for measurements, other than the basic card base.  I guessed at measurements and did them the way I chose on the card, from the way Jo’s looks my measurement is definitely not the same.

I used the Love What You Do stamp set, paper from Share What You Love DSP, Linen Thread for the bow and the wrap around on the card.  I used a white Uniball pen to make the stitching around the card base.  I stamped the art piece with Mint Macaron and then Versa Mark and used Clear Embossing Powder to emboss.  I colored it using Mint Macron Stampin Pad and an Aqua Painter.

The sentiment inside is from the Pretty Kitty stamp set.  Stamped in Mint Macaron on a panel of Whisper White cardstock then matted on a panel of Mint Macaron which is glued to the Tranquil Tide base.
