Dragonfly Dreams

Dragonfly Dreams

Here it is a cold weekend and I thought Spring had sprung, but guess there must be more days of cold.  Have a great weekend anyway!  I really used a lot of stamp sets on the creation of this card.  Hello Cupcake, Beautiful Bouquet, Itty Bitty Greetings stamp sets and the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies.

These are my challenges for the week:

As You See It Challenge #196

Tuesday Morning Sketches

I am excited that my card qualifies for three challenges that rarely happens.

The card starts with a Whisper White card base and a mat of Basic Black card stock for all the different strip of 6″ x 6″ DSP.  You can see the different stacks at the bottom of this post.

The strips are adhered to the Basic Black mat using Liquid Glue, leaving a small border between each strip so you have the effect of a mat around each strip.  Once all the strips are adhered, the Basic Black mat is adhered to the Whisper White card base using Liquid Glue.
The dragonflies from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies  are cut from Basic Black card stock that has an Adhesive Multipurpose Sheet adhered to it for easier adhering.   Four sets were cut twice and adhered together.  Since there are only five I had to cut twice to have enough for the entire card front.  By adhering the four set together it gives them dimension and depth.  By using an Adhesive Multipurpose Sheet it makes it easier to adhere the dragonflies together.  It is much less messy also as using Liquid Glue you get real gluey fingers.Different jewels were adhered to each dragonfly to give them a bit of Bling!  The Happy Birthday is stamped in Soft Suede on a small scrap and then cropped to a small size to fit the space it is adhered.  The card front is finished.
The inside sentiment is stamped in Shaded Spruce on a panel of Whisper White that has been matted on a panel of Basic Black card stock.  Two dragonflies are stamped to give the panel a bit of decoration.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you like my card.  Visit again soon.  Have a blessed day!

Humming Along with Climbing Roses and Botanical Butterfly

Humming Along with Climbing Roses and Botanical Butterfly

My card today is a mix of two stamp sets and DSP, Humming Along and Climbing Roses stamp sets and Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper (DSP).  I sure wish that this DSP would carry over to the new Annual Catalog, but unfortunately, it probably will not happen.  I can’t remember, but maybe it has, a DSP being carried over.

My design comes from the Sunday Stamps Challenge. for this week.

My card base is Pumpkin Pie card stock cut 4-1/4″ x  11″, scored at 5-1/2″ and folded on the scoreline.

  • Next comes a 2-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ panel of Night of Navy that has been embossed with the Pinewood Plank  Embossing Folder.
  • A 2-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ panel of Pumpkin Pie card stock is next.  It is also embossed using the Pinewood Plank Embossing Folder.
  • The Night of Navy and Pumpkin Pie panels are adhered to the Pumpkin Pie card base using Liquid Glue.
  • A Whisper White label is cut using one of the dies from the Rose Trellis Thinlits Dies.
  • The greeting is stamped in Blueberry Bushel ink using a stamp from the Climbing Roses stamp set.
  • A large and small butterfly is cut from a panel of the Botanical Butterfly DSP.
  • The large butterfly is popped on the upper corner of the Night of Navy panel using a Stampin’ Dimensional.
  • The small butterfly is popped on the greeting label that has been popped into the center of the card front.
  • Three sequins from the Sequin Assortment are scattered over the card front.
  • A bow (I call it a Mary bow as she is the one who showed me how to make it) is adhered to the center of the greeting label with a Glue Dot.
  • The inside sentiment from the Humming Along stamp set is stamped in Blueberry Bushel on a panel of Whisper White that has been cropped using the Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies.  It is adhered to the card base using Liquid Glue.

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope  you like my card and find encouragement for inspiration from it.  Visit again soon.  Have a blessed day.  Some days you just want to give up and say what the heck!

Night of Navy Card Stock –2-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ mat for card front

Botanical Butterfly DSP – Cut butterflies from one of the panels

Tea Together

Tea Together

I love the looks of this card.  It is created using the Tea Together stamp set and the greeting is from the Rooted In Nature stamp set.  An easy card, I think, for a beginner, but advanced enough that the most seasoned card maker will like.

My sketch design and inspiration comes from the Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge 189  for the week.

Cut your Basic Black card base, along with the Whisper White mat for the front and for the inside sentiment.  Then cut the black/white panel that is from the Botanical Butterfly DSP.  This DSP is free with a $50 purchase during Sale-A-Bration, which ends on March 31.  I find it easier if you do all your cutting at once instead of just cutting a piece as you need it.

Adhere the Whisper White panel which has been embossed using the Subtle Textured Impression Embossing Folder (TIEF)  to the card base after you have popped the black/white panel from the Botanical Butterfly on it.

Stamp 4 roses from the Tea Together stamp set on thick Whisper White card stock using Versa Mark Ink.   One of the roses is for the inside sentiment panel. Sprinkle White Embossing Powder over the Versa Mark Ink and using your heat tool, heat emboss.  I like heat embossing when coloring because it prevents the colors from running.  Cut the roses out using the Tea Time Framelits Dies (the easy way), I fussy cut because I picked up the wrong stamp set with roses and dies and thought oh, there is not a die for this rose, after fussy cutting, I realized my mistake.

Color the roses using Garden Green and Real Red Stampin’ Write Markers. The roses are popped across the bottom of the black/white checked panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Stamp the greeting in Real Red ink on a scrap of paper.  I traced the shape of the stamp for the greeting and fussy cut it also.  The greeting was popped in the center of the black/white checked panel using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Using Tuxedo Memento Black Ink stamp the sentiment from the stamp set Strong and Beautiful on a panel of Whisper White card stock.  Pop the rose in the lower right corner using a Mini Stampin Dimensional.  Adhere the sentiment panel to the card base using Liquid Glue.  The card is finished.

That is it for today!  Hope you like the card!!  Have a blessed day.

Hello Cupcake

Hello Cupcake

My card is created from the Hello Cupcake stamp set (free with a $50 purchase during Sale-A-Bration.  I also used the How Sweet It Is Designer Series Paper.  The Vellum makes the greeting look blurry in the picture, but in real time it is not so.

My design and inspiration come from the Fusion Card Challenge.

  1. The card base is Coastal Cabana card stock cut at 4-1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5-1/2″ and folded on the scoreline. It is stamped using Versa Mark and the Hello Cupcake Sweet Wishes stamp.  This makes a great background.
  2. A length of Granny Apple Ribbon is wrapped around the card base and secured on the opposite side.
  3.  A  3-1/8″ x 3-1/4″ panel of Gorgeous Grape card stock is cut for the background of the focal panel.
  4. The focal panel is from the How Sweet It Is DSP and cut 3″ x 3-1/8″.  The mat and focal panel are adhered together using Liquid Glue, then popped onto the Coastal Cabana card base.
  5. A panel of vellum is cut 3″ x 3-1/8″ and adhered over the focal panel with Liquid Glue that is carefully put on each corner and then spread very thin so it would not show.  But before the vellum is adhered to the focal panel it is stamped with the greeting in Gorgeous Grape ink.
  6. The two cupcakes are fussy cut from another panel of How Sweet It Is DSP and color is added by using Coastal Cabana, Melon Mambo, and Gorgeous Grape Stampin’ Write Markers.
  7. Sprinkles are added to the cupcake tops by using Adhesive Backed Sequins and Glitter Enamel Dots.
  8. The sentiment is stamped on a 3-3/4″ x 5″ panel of Whisper White card stock in Gorgeous Grape ink using the stamp set Hello Cupcake.  A large cupcake is also stamped in Gorgeous Grape and Granny Apple Green ink.
  9. A Gorgeous Grape panel is cut 4″ x 5-1/2″ for the mat.
  10. The sentiment panel is adhered to the mat and then the mat is adhered to the card base.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you like my card.  Have a blessed day!

Beauty Abounds with Botanical Butterfly

Beauty Abounds with Botanical Butterfly

It seems I am making great use of the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper.  It is just so versatile and can be used for any card you chose to make.  Beauty Abounds is the stamp set the greeting and sentiment are from.  The Stitched Label Framelits makes a pretty addition to the card with the greeting stamped in Gorgeous Grape ink.

My sketch and inspiration come from the TGIF Challenge 200.  Such a lovely sketch for the challenge.

I also decided to play at As You See It because this is a very simple card in spite of my detailed instructions.  I could have just said cut your paper the sizes I have listed and adhere them with Liquid Glue, cut you some butterflies out and stick them on.  I wanted to make it detailed to show how easy it really is.  It is all about wording.   When I think SIMPLE  I think of making it easy so the novice has a chance to make a beautiful card.

This is a really simple and easy card but it will look complicated when I number the steps to creating.  Do not let that deter you from making it.  You will see the majority of the card is cutting.  If you can cut, you can make.  Follow the card recipe below:

  1. Cut a 4-1/4″ x 11″ card base using thick Whisper White card stock.
  2. Score the card at 5-1/2″ and fold on the scoreline.
  3. Cut a 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ mat using Basic Black card stock.
  4. Cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ panel using a sheet of the Botanical Butterfly DSP
  5. Adhere the Botanical Butterfly DSP to the Basic Black mat using Liquid Glue.
  6. Cut a 2-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ panel using the Basic Black card stock.
  7. Cut a 2″ x 5-1/4″ panel from the Botanical Butterfly DSP using one of the sheets that have the above butterflies on it.
  8. Adhere the 2″ panel to the Basic Black mat using Liquid Glue.
  9. Adhere these two panels to the green Botanical Butterfly panel.  I realized when taking pictures I could have used only half a panel of this DSP.
  10. Fussy cut 2 small butterflies and 1 large butterfly from the Botanical Butterfly DSP.
  11. Using thick Whisper White card stock cut a label using the large framelits from the Stitched Labels Framelits set.
  12. Stamp in Gorgeous Grape the greeting from the Beauty Abounds stamp set.
  13. Pop the Stitched Label over the focal panels of butterflies and greenery using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  14. Adhere the large butterfly to the left corner of the Stitched Label using a Glue Dot.
  15. Adhere the two small butterflies using Glue Dots, one to the lower right corner of the Stitched Label and the other on one of the stems of the green flowers at the top of the left panel.
  16. The inside sentiment from the Beauty Abounds stamp set is stamped in Gorgeous Grape ink on a panel of Whisper White that has been matted on a panel of Basic Black card stock using Liquid Glue.
  17. Fussy cut a large butterfly from the Botanical Butterfly DSP and adhered with Liquid Glue.
  18. Using Liquid Glue adhere the finished panel to the card base.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you found enjoyment in seeing my card and that you like it.  My wish is for you to find encouragement and inspiration for your own creations.  Have a blessed day!
