Stampin’ Up! Thoughtful Expressions — Hello
The card I am sharing today is created using Stampin’ Up! Thoughtful Expression stamp set and Dies. This card is a fun fold and a CAS of Terri Gaines. Click her name and you can see her video for this card. My card is not the one in her video. The images of how to cut and what to cut show Gorgeous Grape cardstock not the Pretty Peacock cardstock for the finished card. I made two cards with Pretty Peacock and forgot to take photos as I went. I made the first then realized I had not taken photos so I made a second, but it was a repeat, so I started a third with Gorgeous Grape cardstock that I had die cut. Success this time.
Challenge I am joining
Start with
As the front is embossed but a piece of cardstock the size of the card front and die cut both at the same time as the embossed panel will be adhered over the card base.
This is how it looks once you have die cut the front and the panel.
Die cut the panel for the card front using the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder. Adhere the panel to the card base with your favorite adhesive.
This is how the card front looks once the embossed panel is adhered.
Pieces to cut — I used dies from Thoughtful Expressions Dies.
- Largest die — 1 panel, it is the same as the one used to die cut the window on the card front. Pretty Peacock and Highland Heather are shown above as Panel 1. I used Lost Lagoon as you will see later in the post. Panel #1
- Second largest die — 5 panels of Pretty Peacock — Gorgeous Grape shown above. Panel #2
- Third largest die 2 panels of Basic White and 3 of Designer Series Paper. Panel #3
- Designer Series Paper — extended arm or branch (I don’t know what to call it) for adhering die cuts — 2-1/2″ x 12″ scoring at 4″ & 8″
This is a photo showing all the pieces needed for creating the card. I used Lost Lagoon as my base die as you can see in the photo below. On the card shown in this post, I use Lost Lagoon cardstock as the base piece.
With the card closed adhere the largest die cut label through the window cut in card front to the inside back of the card using adhesive of choice, I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Make sure it is snug and in place.
The 2-3/8″ x 12″ strip is scored at 4″ and 8″. Fold the right side in to the middle and the left over the right. Using adhesive of choice, I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue adhere the piece over the largest die. In this photo it is the Lost Lagoon label in the middle of the card. Front panel does not line up in middle of window, that is the way it is suppose to be.
Close right extended arm piece over the middle and adhere a #2 panel which is Pretty Peacock. Make sure adhesive to adhere is only on the arm piece if you put it all over the #2 piece it will adhere to the piece behind it and you will be unable to open.
Open it out after adhere the piece and adhere a #2 piece over the one on the other side. Again, being sure you only put adhesive on the extended arm piece.
Now, close the left side extended arm over the middle and repeat the same as you did for the right side. Using the Pretty Peacock pieces.
It is time to adhere the #3 pieces and the two sentiments which you will stamp on the two Basic White pieces. You can stamp any sentiment you choose that will fit the two pieces. My two come from Stampin’ Up! Wild Ferns stamp set and Stampin’ Up! So Sincere stamp set.
Stamp the humming bird image from Stampin’ Up! Thoughtful Expressions stamp set in Memento Black ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock, die cut using the coordinating die from Thoughtful Expressions Dies. Color using Berry Burst and Pretty Peacock ink and Blender Pens and a Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends Marker. Adhere to card front. Pop Adhesive Back Dragonflies and Birds around the card front and through out the card. Stamp the greeting hello in Memento Black ink on a scrap of Basic White cardstock, fussy cut, adhere to a scrap of Pretty Peacock, fussy cut, and adhere to card front as shown in the photo above.
A Basic White envelope gets a panel of Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper adhered to the envelope flap with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
