Stampin’ Up! Pansy Patch — Thinking of You!

Stampin’ Up! Pansy Patch — Thinking of You!

I am sharing another Pansy Patch card with you today.  I love this stamp set and so happy it carried over to the new catalog that went live June 1, 2023.  I made another Pansy Patch card and you can see the details here with all the diagrams and instructions for putting the pansies together.

I am entering the Stampin’ Up! Challenge.  Their theme is flowers.

I am also entering Use Your Stuff Challenge.

My card base is Fresh Freesia card stock. I embossed a panel of Blackberry Bliss card stock using the Splash 3D Embossing Folder from Stripes and Splashes 3D Embossing Folders.  I adhered the panel to the card base using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  I die cut a piece of Basic White card stock using a die from Two-Tone Flora Dies.  This piece is adhered over the embossed panel.  I applied Multipurpose Liquid Glue sparingly on the delicate piece so as not to have glue spreading on the embossed piece as it was adhered.

This is a side view of the card showing how the card base is folded to create the easel.

I started with a Fresh Freesia  card stock base cut 4-1/4″ x 11″. I then scored the piece at 2-1/8″ and 5-1/2″.  I folded and creased well.  The mountain fold of the 2-1/8″ piece becomes the piece you attach the card front to using adhesive of your choice.

My card is an easel fold fun fold card.  I like them because they are easy to create and for displaying a card on your shelf or table.

Again, you can see the instructions for die cutting and assembling the pansies.

I matted a piece of Basic White card stock on a Blackberry Bliss card stock mat and adhered to the inside of the card.  This will give ample space to write a message.  A pansy is adhered at the bottom of the panel to become the stop for the easel.

A Basic White envelope gets a pansy stamped on the envelope flap.

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you took the time to linger and look at my other blog post and cards and that you will join me on my stamping journey as I share my cards with you each day. My hope and wish are that you will be inspired to create amazing creations yourself. Feel free to CAS(E) any card. Any questions you may have, you know you can always contact me. Stampin’ Up! Sweet Songbird — A Little Bird…

Stampin’ Up! Sweet Songbird — A Little Bird…

Welcome, I am so happy you are here to see the card i am sharing with you today.  I used Stampin’ Up! Sweet Songbirds stamp set, along with Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder.

I am entering the Just Add Ink Challenge — their theme for this challenge is Just Add Music.

I started by cutting my card base from Orchid Oasis card stock. Next, I embossed a piece of Basic White card stock using Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder.

I die cut a circle from Basic White card stock using a die from Stylish Shapes Dies. This becomes the art piece.  The Orchid Oasis scalloped mat behind the  Basic White circle is die cut from an old die set I have had for many years.  I stamped leaves in Garden Green ink using a stamp from Stampin’ Up! Sweet As A Song stamp set.  I stamped the branch in Pecan ink.  I stamped the bird in Orchid Oasis and punched using the Songbird Builder Punch.  I stamped the music notes in Misty Moonlight ink. The bird is popped on the branch after all the stamping.  It is then adhered to the Orchid Oasis mat and popped on the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  A greeting from Stampin’ Up! Sweet Songbirds stamp set is stamped in Real Red ink on a piece of Basic White card stock.  It is then die cut using die from Stylish  Shapes Dies.  I had to do a little modification with the die but it worked. Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewel are popped around the card front.

A sentiment is stamped in Real Red and Orchid Oasis ink on a panel of Basic White card stock.  A branch is stamped in Pecan ink on the bottom of the panel.  Garden Green leaves are added to the branch. Two tiny flowers from Stampin’ Up! Sweet Songbirds are stamped in Real Red ink, fussy cut, and adhered to the center of the leaves using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

A Basic White envelope gets a piece of Orchid Oasis card stock embossed using the Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder  and applied to the envelope flap using  Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you took the time to linger and look at my other blog post and cards and that you will join me on my stamping journey as I share my cards with you each day. Stampin’ Up! Two-Tone Flora with Irresistible Blooms — Hello

Stampin’ Up! Two-Tone Flora with Irresistible Blooms — Hello

I used two stamp sets in creating the card I am sharing with you today.  I used Stampin’ Up! Irresistible Blooms stamp set and Stampin’ Up! Two-Tone Flora stamp set.  I also used Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder and a die from Elegant Border Dies.  I think the mix of the two flowers creates a beautiful card.  Below is the diagram for creating the card base.

I am entering the Alphabet Challenge as their theme for this challenge is to create an easel card.

I am also entering Creative Creases Challenge as they are always a Fun Fold.

I found a diagram on Pinterest showing how to score and cut your card base to create the fun fold gate fold easel card.  I did not see a name, so thank you to the person who posted this so I did not have to draw a diagram.   The diagram explains well how the procedure is done.

My card base is Basic White card stock with mats of Shaded Spruce card stock.  I embossed the panel using Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder.  I adhered the mats to the card base using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  I die-cut a piece of Basic White card stock using a die from Elegant Border Dies.   I matted the piece on a Shaded Spruce card stock mat.  This mat becomes the easel.

I stamped flowers from Stampin’ Up! Irresistible Blooms stamp set and Stampin’ Up! Two-Tone Floral stamp set. I stamped Real Red ink with Bubble Bath ink,  Highland Heather ink with Fresh Freesia ink,  Mango Melody ink with Lemon Lolly ink, and Bubble Bath ink with Fresh Freesia ink. I stamped Moody Mauve, then stamped Versa Mark over it and sprinkled Clear Embossing Powder over it, and heated it with a heat tool.  I used a Bubble Bath Stampin’ Blends Marker to color the inside of the flower.  The stop for the easel is a flower placed on the middle panel of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop the flower on the panel.

I cut a 1″ strip of Shaded Spruce card stock to create the belly band,  using my bone folder to break the fibers of the strip of card stock down a bit so it folds easier.  I embossed the strip using the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder.  I stamped a flower from Irresistible Blooms stamp set in Real Red ink and then Versa Mark over it.  I sprinkled Clear Embossing Powder over it and heat embossed using a heat tool. I colored the flower using a Bubble Bath Stampin’ Blends Marker.  The sprig of leaves behind the flower is from Stampin’ Up! Two-Tone Flora stamp set and is stamped in Granny Apple Green ink.

A flower is adhered to each of the inside panels along with the flower arrangement on the section that becomes the easel when the card is opened.  I popped Tinsel Gems around the easel, side panels, and the belly band.

A Basic White envelope gets a flower from Stampin’ Up! Two-Tone Flora stamp stamped to the envelope flap using  Mango Melody and Lemon Lolly ink.

Stampin’ Up! Cheerful Daisies & Dainty Delight — Celebrate You!!

Stampin’ Up! Cheerful Daisies & Dainty Delight — Celebrate You!!

The card I am sharing today is a fancy fold, meaning it is not a regular folded card.  I used Stampin’ Up! Cheerful Daisies stamp set and Stampin’ Up! Dainty Delight stamp set along with Delightfully Eclectic Designer Series Paper.

Inspiration for my card design comes from Freshly Made Sketches Challenge for this week.

I started with a Bubble Bath card stock card base.  I cut the card stock 5-12″ x 8-1/2″  Scoring at 4-1/4″. Place the score line to the  right corner in the track of the paper trimmer and cut from the score line to the right corner, this will give you the fold for the card.

I cut a piece of Delightfully Eclectic Designer Series Paper and cut from the upper left corner to the lower right corner. I adhered the two pieces to the card base, one to the card front and the other to the inside using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

I die cut two squares using dies from Stylish Shapes Dies.  One from Bubble Bath card stock, the smaller one from Fresh As A Daisy Designer Series Paper.  The Fresh As A Daisy Designer Series Paper piece is adhered to the Bubble Bath card stock piece using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  I fussy cut a daisy from a piece of the Fresh As A Daisy Designer Series Paper and adhered the daisy to the solid color piece of  Fresh As A Daisy Designer Series Paper.  I added several pearls around the piece, then added the  daisy piece to the left side of the triangle front using Tear & Tape.

A fussy cut daisy is adhered to the back side of the card front piece.  A sentiment from Stampin’ Up! Dainty Delight stamp set is stamped in Moody Mauve ink  far enough down the panel so it will not show when the card is close.

A Basic White envelope gets a panel of Delightfully Eclectic Series Paper adhered to the envelope flap  using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Happy Memorial Day — Honoring Those Who Gave Their All!!!

Happy Memorial Day — Honoring Those Who Gave Their All!!!

This is an old post from 5 years ago.  I thought in honor of those who gave their all I would re-post.  I hope that everyone has had an enjoyable day with family and friends.

Today we are celebrating Memorial Day.  When I was a kid, Memorial Day was always the 30th of May. It was called Decoration Day.  It was made a national holiday in 1971, at that time it was moved to the last Monday in May.

Memorial Day is the day we remember what it means to be a hero. A day to remember the heroes who gave their all for their buddy next to them and for our freedom. These are the real heroes.   It is also a day we can thank those who did not get recognized with the honor they deserved when they returned from the war.

The church I grew up in still calls it Decoration Day.  It is a big event.  Everyone takes a dish and lunch is served.  Family and friends that live out of town come for the celebration.  It is a good time to catch up with family and old friends who live out of town that you do not get to visit often.  I have a friend from childhood that has come from Oregon this year for the event as he was in the war. A far ride for an oldster, Oregon to North Carolina.

I remember the little paper poppies sold by the veterans from the local American Legion to raise money for the needs of the disabled veterans.  Poppies became the symbol of the American Legion.  The other day when I was shopping there were two old veterans sitting outside the entrance of the store taking donations.  If you made a donation, they gave you one of the little paper poppies.  Sure brought back memories of childhood and Decoration Day.

Lt. Col. John McCrae wrote a poem called “In Flander’s Field”. 1915  He had walked in a field of poppies where crosses were laid out to mark the graves of the fallen.  You can see at the end of this blog post.  There was also another poem written by Moina Michael as a tribute to Lt. Col. John McCrae’s  “In Flander’s Field”.  It too is at the end of this post.

Belgium Flanders Field

Flanders Field, Belgium John McCrae, 1872-1918 One of the most famous World War I poems was written in 1915 by Canadian John McCrae. He was inspired to write his poem on May 3rd, 1915, after performing the burial service of Alexis Helmer, a friend and fellow soldier who died in the Second Battle of Ypres, Belgium the day before. At the time, he had noted how quickly the poppies grew around the graves of those who had died. Sitting in the back of an ambulance, he composed the poem, then crumpled the paper and threw it away. Another soldier retrieved the poem and convinced McCrae to submit it for publication. McCrae worked on the poem for months before submitting it to The Spectator in London. Although they rejected it, the poem was sent to Punch where it was published on December 8th, 1915. “In Flanders Field” became the most popular poem of its era. It was republished throughout the world and became synonymous with the sacrifice of soldiers in World War I. Real poppies became a symbol for honoring soldiers of World War I are worn to this day on Remembrance Day.  Click the link below the picture and it will take you to the website this information is from.

In Flander’s Field
By Lt. Col. John McCrae, 1915
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly,
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow.,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields

Take up our quarrel with the foe
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields

Lt. Col. John McCrae died of pneumonia in 1918 and is buried in Wimereux, France

We Shall Keep the Faith”
By Moina Michael
Oh! You who sleep in Flanders fields,
Sleep sweet – to rise anew!
We caught the torch you threw
And holding high, we keep the Faith
With All who died

We cherish, too, the poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led;
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies,
But lends a lustre to the red
Of the flower that blooms above the dead
In Flanders field

And now the Torch and Poppy Red
We wear in honor of our dead
Fear not that ye have died for naught;
We’ll teach the lesson that you wrought
In Flanders field
