Triangles of Life

Triangles of Life

Today can be called a day of Joy and Sadness.  It is one of my grandson’s 21st birthday but also the day my Mother decided to go see Jesus. Sad, also, because I am not getting to join in all the fun with Mary and Amy and all the Krew on the retreat.   So, I want to focus on the happiness of my grandson’s birthday, so I won’t be sad on this day.

My card is created using the Touches of Texture stamp set.  A simple, yet sweet card.  The flowers in this set are great for making thank you notes and thinking of you cards.

The inspiration for the card comes from Color Throwdown #511.

The card is a one layer, other than the art piece.  The card base is Thick Whisper White cut 4-1/4 x 11 and scored at 5-1/2.

Two triangles were made by using two of the Layering Square Framelits and cutting from Pear Pizzazz and Melon Mambo.  Melon Mambo is closest to a berry color that I have.  It can be a strawberry.

The art piece is stamped in Memento Black Ink on the square of cardstock that was adhered with Liquid Glue to the Melon Mambo triangle.  I suppose the flowers could have been stamped directly onto the card stock base and then attached the triangles over it.  Probably would have been the easiest, but why take the easy way – right?

The flowers are colored using Stampin Write Markers in Melon Mambo, Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz and Petal Pink (with 2 layers it looks like peach).  The bit of bling is from the Share What You Love Artisan Pearls.

The inside sentiment is blank with just a faint shadow of the flowers stamped in the center.

Thank you for stopping by, I hope  you found encouragement, inspiration for your creations and an overall great feeling in your spirit.  Have a blessed day!

Just A Note To Say

Just A Note To Say

My card design was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches 354 Challenge for the week.

I  started with a card base of Shaded Spruce, cut 4-1/4 x 11 and scored at 5-1/2.

  • A mat from Early Expresso was cut 4 x 5-1/4. This is the mat for the art piece.
  • The art piece is from Whisper White Thick Cardstock.
  • The trees are stamped in Shaded Spruce on the Whisper White. When I mask I find it easier (hint from Jennifer McGuire) to use a piece of transparent plastic (you can use one your stamps are stuck to).  Here is Jennifer’s 9 minute video on how to mask. Watching is easier than me trying to put on paper how to mask.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7cEfNLBhuc
  • After stamping the trees, the Whisper White art piece it is embossed using the Subtle Embossing Folder.
  • The deer is stamped on a scrap of Crumb Cake card stock using Early Expresso ink and the Dashing Deer stamp set and then Versa Mark  stamped over the Early Express then Clear Embossing powder sprinkled over the Versa Mark and heat embossed.  The deer was cut using the Detailed Deer Thinlits Dies.
  • The greeting is from the Postcard Pals stamp set stamped in Shaded Spruce.
  • The art piece is adhered to the Early Expresso mat using Multipurpose Liquid Glue and then popped onto the Shaded Spruce card base.
  • The inside sentiment panel is matted in Early Expresso card stock. The sentiment is from the Dashing Deer stamp set.  The sentiment panel also has a deer for the corner.

I hope  you found inspiration, hope and encouragement that you can use in your own card making or crafts.  I am happy to share what I create with you.  Thanks for stopping by.

Have A Blessed Day!

Still Night Stampin Up

Still Night Stampin Up

Welcome to a sneak peek of one of the Stampin’ Up 2018 Holiday Catalog stamp sets.  It is called Still Night.  I think the owl looks so dignified sitting on his branch as if to say look at me.

My card design is inspired by Inkspire Me.

Crazy 4 Challenge c4c449

and the TGIF Challenges Feelin Punchy

Coloring the owl was quite easy as I stamped him on a scrap of Sahara Sand cardstock and then used the watercolor pencils that come with the Blended Season Stamp Bundle, but you have to order them separately.  These are available until August 31. They are not in the Holiday Catalog, so if you want them order within the next three days.  I also used the Early Expresso Watercolor Pencil from the annual catalog watercolor set.

I cut the Owl using his die from the Night Owl Thinlits Dies set, along with the branch he is perched on in Crumb Cake. I watercolored a scrap of Whisper White cardstock with Tranquil Tide to get the color I wanted, so it would match the Joyous Noel DSP that I used for the mat. From this piece I cut the pine bough that are tucked behind the owl and under the branch he is sitting on.

The greeting “Thinking of You” on the front is from the Colorful Season Stamp Set and Bundle. The sentiment, “Wishing You All the Best,” is in the Blended Seasons bundle. I hope you enjoyed this sneak peek of this stamp set. All 2018 Holiday catalog products will be available September 5th. Start making your lists!   All products used in making this card are listed at the very end of this post along with card cuts.

Stampin’ Up! is offering a limited time stamp set bundle called Blended Seasons.  It’s an exclusive 10-piece wood- or clear-mount stamp set with images for every season (also available in French)!  The stamp set can be bundled with Stitched Season Framelits Dies, which is a coordinating stitched die that includes stitching on both the positive and negative images

There are also Watercolor Pencils in 10 new colors that are available too!  They aren’t bundled with the stamps and dies but can be purchased separately. If you like watercolor pencils to use get these now, they will not carry over to our next catalog.

Miss You

Miss You

Welcome to my blog!  If this is your first time I hope you find encouragement for your soul, or encouragement and inspiration for a card you may be working on creating or some other project you may be doing.  If you are returning for a second or third time thank you for choosing to visit my blog again.

This is for a friend I have not seen or spoken to in quite sometime, so thought I would make her a card to let her know I miss her.

This card today gets inspiration from this week’s challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

I started with a card base of Whisper White.  This card is rather simple and easy.  I cut a panel of Mint Macaron and embossed using the Subtle embossing folder. This embossing folder gives just the right amount of texture.

I fussy cut some flowers from the Share What You Love DSP.  I cut a strip of Tranquil Tide 4-3/4 x 1 and stamped the greeting from the Blended Seasons stamp set.  (This stamp set is only available until August 31 so if you have been thinking of purchasing it, now is the time.  It comes with stitched framelits dies as a bundle).

I wound silver and copper metallic thread around my hand several time and secured it with a glue dot.  I popped the strip of Tranquil Tide onto the Mint Macaron panel, secured the metallic thread with a glue dot over the strip, over this I popped the flowers.  I then popped the Mint Macaron panel onto the Whisper White card base and the card front was finished.

I did not do an inside sentiment as I want to write a note to my friend instead.

After finishing the card, I decided to add an extra sprig of flowers to the mix. How do you think it looks, does it add to or should it be eliminate.  Be honest let me know.  I just have it sticking in not glued down.  I think I prefer it without.

Thoughts of Encouragments

Thoughts of Encouragments

Welcome to my blog! I am so happy you stopped by today.  My wish is that you find encouragement and inspiration for your own card making.  Three cards from the same Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack, but all three are different. They turned out beautifully and were easy to make.  For the first card, I decided to play along with the Crazy 4 Challenges -C4C448

Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper

Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper

I cut a strip of Smokey Slate DSP 1-1/4 x 5-1/4 and adhered it to the Smokey Slate card base with Liquid Glue.  The art piece is from one of  the sheets of the DSP. I stamped the thinking of you in the center of the piece. I matted the art piece on a 3-1/4 x 3-1/4 square of Smokey Slate cardstock and popped the whole piece over the ribbon.

A few days earlier I had prepared pieces of cardstock using the shaving cream technique.  This technique is posted at the end of this post.  This is what I used to cut my butterflies. I adhered them to the corners of the art piece using a rolled up glue dot.

The inside sentiment panel has one corner enhanced with a corner of the square from the Petal Promenade DSP and a butterfly cut from the paper that I used the shaving cream technique on.  The sentiment and greeting are from Verve Stamps (no longer in business) but you can use a greeting and sentiment of your choice.

That’s all for the first card.

The second card  is in the landscape instead of portrait orientation.   Again, I started with Smokey Slate cardstock as the base. It was cut       5-1/2 x 11 and scored at 5-1/2.  I cut a panel of Blackberry Bliss 5-1/4 x 4.  To this panel, I adhered a panel from the Petal Promenade DSP that had been cut   2-1/2 x 5. To the other side of the panel of Blackberry Bliss I adhered a decorative panel that had been cut using Whisper White Thick Cardstock.  On this decorative panel I stamped the sentiment “You are never more than a thought away.”  You can always stamp any sentiment of your choice.   I wrapped a length of Smokey Slate 1/4″ ribbon around the Blackberry Bliss panel and tied a bow then I popped this Blackberry Bliss panel onto the Smokey Slate card base using Stampin Dimensionals.

The inside sentiment panel is matted with Blackberry Bliss. Again, I used a decorative panel to stamp the sentiment on.  The sentiment is from Power Poppy.

This is all for the second card.

The third and final card.  Hope I haven’t bored you too much with all my cards today!

I started with a card base of Thick Whisper Whisper White, cut 4-1/4 x 11, scored at 5-1/2.  I then cut a panel of Mossy Meadow cardstock 4 x 5-1/4 and embossed using the Layering Leaves TIEF.  I cut a panel from the Petal Promenade DSP 2-1/4 x 5. I adhered this to the Mossy Meadow panel.  Over this I glued the butterflies using Liquid Glue.  I placed the butterflies in the middle of the DSP panel and the Mossy Meadow panel.

Seems after two other cards, I have little to say about this one.  Guess it is like having children, by the third one there is little attention.

The outside greeting is from a now retired Stampin Up set.  As I have said before you can use any greeting or sentiment that you may choose.

Using a retired Stampin Up Edgelit I cut a panel from Whisper White cardstock and matted with Mossy Meadow cardstock.  The butterfly is from the Tea Room Memories and More Card Pack.

Well that is finally it for today and my three cards, again I will say, I hope  you found inspiration, hope and encouragement that you can use in your own card making or crafts.  I am happy to share what I create with you.

Have a blessed day.
