Heartland Reflections

Heartland Reflections

I wanted to learn to do this.  I call it reflection.  I watch a video by  Jan B of the UK .  She gave very good detailed instructions. If you want to learn to do this I would suggest watching her video, but there are several on You Tube that have this technique.  Jan said she learned it watching Dawn Griffith video. So it seems it is from one side of the Pond to the other and back.

It looks harder than it really is, just takes a bit of time, the first time you try it.  I’ve made two cards already.  The first one was not too great, I call it my practice learning one.  I will post it at the end of this post.

As usual, I started with the card base, choosing Crumb Cake as the color.  I then cut a panel of Dapper Denim (retired) forgot about that until I started doing my list of Products Used.  I embossed this using the Seaside TIEF.  I cut a panel of Whisper White card stock for the art piece.  I taped everything on the stamp except the little boy, then I stamped him using Memento Black Ink.  Be sure to take the tape from the stamp before stamping or you will have a big blob of black ink. To make the reflection, I stamped the little boy on a sheet of acetate that I pulled out of an old stamp set.  You can always put it back. Be sure to line up the feet when you are doing this.  Once you have carefully laid the acetate piece on down use your bone folder or a brayer to rub over the piece of acetate to get the image to adhere to the paper.  The ink residue wipes off clean with a baby wipe.  I colored the boy using watercolor pencils.

I then stamped the two trees using the Lovely As A Tree Stamp Set.  I only used the top portion  of the pine tree and drew the tree trunk using a Crumb Cake Stampin Write Marker.

I colored the water, sky and bank using an Aqua Painter and Pool Party and Crumb Cake Stampin Ink Pads.

The inside sentiment is stamped in Dapper Denim on a panel of Whisper White matted to a  panel of Dapper Denim and then adhered to the card base. I stamped another tree from the Lovely As A Tree Stamp Set on the inside panel.

This is my practice one.
