Happy 80th

Happy 80th

These cards are for a dear friend, no pun intended, in Texas who will turn 80 on Saturday.  I made this one first but really didn’t like it.  I think it is too blah once a picture was taken of it.   I should have just stopped with it no matter how it looks, but being me I could not.

Stamp Set: Nature Sings and Balloon Adventure

Card Base: Crumb Cake – Cut 4 ¼ x 11. Scored at 5-1/2

Banner: Wood Texture DSP – Cut 4-1/2 x 1-1/2

Background on Card base: Stamped with Versa Mark using a stamp from Nature Sings

Mat for Large Deer: Basic Black Cardstock 3-1/4 x 3-1/4

Art Piece: Watercolor Paper 3 x 3

Dies: Stitched Layering and Circle Dies

Inside Sentiment: Balloon Adventure Stamp Set

SINCE I DIDN’T LIKE THE FIRST CARD I THOUGHT I WOULD JUST MAKE A GENERIC CARD GOOD FOR ANYONE.

  1. Stamp Set: Balloon Adventure—Inside Sentiment
  2. Card base: Tranquil Tide– Cut 4 ¼ x 11. Scored at 5-1/2
  3. Mat: Melon Mambo Cardstock  —  cut 4 x 5-1/4
  4. Art Piece: From Picture Perfect Party DSP—cut 3-3/4 x 5
  5. Wink of Stella on the Flames of the Candles
  6. Happy Birthday Thinlits – One from Tranquil Tide, one from a scrap of another DSP—do not have the name, but you can use any coordinating DSP
  7. Inside decorations cut from Picture Perfect Party DSP—they look 3D when you look at the real thing.

Stay a bit longer, I made a third card and finally gave up trying to make the card I wanted that was in my brain, but I couldn’t get it out for some reason.

  1. Stamp Set: Balloon Adventure and Number of Years and Endless Birthday Wishes
  2. Card Base: Bermuda Bay – Cut 4-1/4 x 8-1/2. Scored at 4-1/4
  3. Whisper White Cardstock —  Cut 8-1/4 x 5-1/4  for Art Piece then scored in half at 4-1/8″. Die Cut using the largest of the dies from the Balloon Adventure Bundle, lining up the center of the die with the score line on your card, then run it through the Big Shot. The die cuts out the balloons, scores and embosses all at the same time.
  4. The balloons on the front were cut using the Balloon Adventure dies and the Balloon Punch from Stampin Up. They were cut from scraps of several different pieces of DSP. You can use what you have in your stash that you like.
  5. The happy birthday on the front is from a many year’s retired stamp set. I like the fonts of the set so use often.
  6. The 80 is cut using the numbers from the Number of Years Bundle.

The Inside panels are 2-1/4 by 5 cut from panels of 6×6  Picture Perfect Party DSP. The sentiment is from Endless Birthday Wishes.  The panel on the right is left to write a personal note.  If you have questions please call or email

It’s really hard to capture the fun of this pop-up die in a picture!  Again, looking at the real card instead of a picture, the balloons on the right and left panels look 3-D.

Well! that is it. I finally gave up and decided I needed to get this posted, no more card making.  I will probably end up making another as these are just not what I want.  Thanks for stopping by. Now on to the fabulous Nanette and her post for the day.

  1. Thanks, Susan, happy you like them, the last one maybe is ok, but the first is not to me.

  2. I’ll have to browse your blog to see a card that you like bc I love all these and can’t imagine needing more! We tend to be our own hardest critics, right?

  3. I love them all! And I SO get not being able to get a card from my brain to the card stock! But – the result of YOUR “brain block” is three wonderful cards!! 🙂

  4. Thanks, Amy, Karen, and Julie your kind words are encouraging. I really needed them. Julie, thanks especially for your comment about that first one. I think it is so blah, but guess it is fine to post blah cards!
